REVIEW: Cynos Argan Oil THAIRapy Products

Last January, I said goodbye to ombre hair. I figured that after a big year of torture last year, I'd give my locks a break. I couldn't stand the roots showing so I decided to give Etude House's Bubble Hair Coloring a try. (It's hair color shampoo worth about P300 that totally works! I was too excited to start that I failed to take photos and do a review. I'll do it next time.)

Now with hair coloring products like these, I expect that the color won't last as long as getting it done at a salon. Though I did color my hair to jet black, the blonde base was most likely going to make it appear lighter in time.

The not-so-secret secret to that problem is using organic hair shampoo and conditioner for maintenance. Compared to all the other commercial shampoos available, organic shampoos contain less chemicals and are least likely to strip out the hair color.

Let me position myself here. When I first got my hair treated, I have tried and tried to find the perfect hair product for maintenance. Most of them fell flat in quality, and have left my hair frizzy and dry. Also note: falling hair and tangles. Like everything else, do your research before making your purchase!

A week after my Etude hair coloring, I started seeing lighter strands of hair starting to appear! I decided to ditch the shampoo of supposed promise, and move on to Cynos Argan Oil Thairapy.

That's my hair color transition. The last quadrant (lower right) is what it looks like now.

The products from Cynos' Argan Oil Thairapy line has this refreshing nutty scent, basically what you'd expect from argan oil. Just a little bit of history and press release here, Argan oil is a traditional cosmetic and healing oil that is produced by the Berber women of Morocco. Benefits of Argan Oil include softening cuticles and healing split ends. [Read more plus my verdict after the jump]

I've been using Cynos' Argan Oil Thairapy shampoo and conditioner for more than a month now and I have not been disappointed. Hair coloring will ALWAYS dry out your hair and I'm glad I've found a partner that solves the issue.  After showers and after drying, my hair would feel light. And it's not the frizzy kind of light. It's the 'virgin hair' kind of light. Hehe!

Compared to the commercial shampoos and conditioners, I do have to apply A LOT more to work a lather and feel the smoothness. The length of my hair (that is way past bra line) is a factor, but without the usual lathering agents, normal amounts might just not cut it. Despite having to put so much, I feel safe knowing that the products I'm overdosing my hair with is all natural. (Don't panic, it's organic!)

UPDATE: I read that for some, it does lather well in small amounts. Gosh, my hair is THAT dry. Hehe.

"Those grown in the driest prove to be the most healing and moisturizing" -- Morocco Argan Oil for body and hair is the liquid gold miracle worth Php1,200 (100ml bottle)

Now to touch-ups and advanced maintenance and more. If you're looking for the ultimate damage control for your dry hair and skin, Cynos' Morocco Argan Oil body & hair Thairapy is worth a try. Its thick consistency can be absorbed by both dry and wet hair. The product contains linoleic acid (Omega 6) fights against drying and ensures the function of repair. Salon Professionals also use as treatment to steam, blow dry and style.

Still with the same fresh nutty scent, the oil is a great travel buddy. Because it's fast absorbing, it leaves your hair light and tangle-free (compared to the ones that make your hair look greasy and limp, ew).

Will I buy this product? ✓ Yes
(God, these are too perfect for summer.)

Common Thread branch now open in Greenbelt 5

Common Thread, the stylista's hub for color and style, has found its first home in GB5, Makati

My friend Mo described it perfectly: "CommonThread is like our very ownUrban Outfitters!" It's the place for all things in style but quite hard to find. (I've found my perfect white top here, a little bit more about that later.)

CommonThread is an international multi-label high-street fashion store that offers hand-picked collections of basic apparel, footwear and accessories.

This day, the branch was jam packed for the launch!

Felt that I wasn't wearing enough color that day! Just look at the beautiful interiors. I heard that the Terry SA office (the group that handles Capsule / CommonThread) was just as colorful and stylish. Should probably pay a visit!

QUIRKY FIND! Personally, the only kind of "iPad" or "iPhone" that I prefer seeing children with: chalkboard versions of it! I love them!!

Some pretty snazzy time pieces from KOMONO Belgium in awesome modern design. Cosmic and wood prints in straps like Fat Wizard, 80's Leopard, and I Love Techno. The perfect boyfriend (or girlfriend, ehem ehem) gift!

I got to score some great stuff that day: a white crew neck 3/4 sleeve by Thread 365 and a pair of neon green Havaianas. Other things that caught my eye include the wire neck piece and Coloud headphones.

Spent the rest of the night with Martha Gonzalez of Bridges PR. It's really different now that I fly solo as a blogger. I'm glad there are some things that never change. :)

There is truly something in the CommonThread branch for every style story. "Style stories" for me, are unique for everyone. It's your own personal life journal as a visual, everything and anything that you wear and own  tell a lot about you, and describe you in more than just words. Style stories are personal moods, memories, ideas, and outlooks, it goes far beyond yet another #OOTD.

I love how CommonThread understands just that. I can't wait for more branches. Congratulations, Dazzle, Lynch, and team TSA!

Bensimons in each and every color!

Blessing my new 35mm Prime lens with its first night time event. Of course it had to be ours, and one that I was most excited about: Globe Telecom's NEXT greatest partnership, with THE best online music streaming app, Spotify!

Check out our cool flux set-up. The event was at held at the tallest building in the Philippines, today's hottest spot, 71 Gramercy in Makati. This flux set-up hovers over the city.

Just so you know, we're giving premium access to Spotify for FREE when you subscribe to our newest data plan/promo, Go Surf. I won't delve into the nitty-gritty, but it's something you should definitely watch out for. This promo starts on April 13.

Photo Diary: Globe Boracay Adventure 2014

Back in Boracay after exactly a year, this time for Globe Stores' Boracay Adventure.

I went here during Holy Week last year with my mom and brother to shoot Mandala Spa's official photos and was surprised to see less people this year. "Everyone's going to Labor Day!" they said. (And everyone was! That'll be in a separate post!) I traveled alone to the island via PAL (my team mate EJ flew in a couple of hours later) and stayed at Boracay Paradise Garden, Station 3. I had the biggest bedroom, 2 Queen-sized beds were in my room, all to myself!

Didn't get to take so much photos of the airport. It was my first time in a long time flying to Caticlan (I usually take 2Go, don't judge.) and the newly renovated airport was a pleasant surprise. Ang ganda! It was so clean, classy, and tourist-friendly.

A super summer must-own: Avon's new Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Wash and Lotion Gel to beat the moisture-sucking heat!

The Globe Boracay Adventure 2014 is the event of Globe Stores Boracay where locals and tourists (Globe subscribers, especially) participate in something similar to an Amazing Race. With stops scattered across all three Stations (Station 1, 2, and 3), the adventure was quite exciting. In each stop, freebies and prizes awaited participants, Once the a participant gets to finish the adventure, they are rewarded with VIP passes to the super fun Globe Wave party by night. Happy Mother's Day: 10 Things She Always Says

Happy Mother's Day to my beautiful, beautiful mom! (Sketch by myself)

10 Things my mom always says:
1.) On me with my hair down: Denise, tie your hair.
2.) On me posing for the camera: SMILE! Babalina ka nanaman. I don't like pics where you aren't smiling.
3.)  On me going on trips or events: How about me?
4.) After a whole day of following her around while shopping: Wala nanaman akong nabili for myself.
5.) On me (and my sisters') clothes: Hindi nanaman appropriate for the occasion!
6.) On boys: You know you have to be with someone (insert many perfect boy attributes here). I'm just saying.
7.) On any of me and my siblings' careers (excluding Juancho): Why don't you become a doctor?
8.) On pictures: Viber it to me. OR Don't tag me. I'll kill you. (HAHA.)
9.) On me going to parties: Don't drink, don't smoke, don't do anything I wouldn't do.
10.) On any time of the day: Where are you? Please tell dad to call me now.

My mom is one tough critic! But I love her forever.
What does your mom always say? :)

The "Self" in Selfless

$

We've told ourselves time and time again how love is so abstract and almost always irrational. But what defines love or the level of love we are in is dependent on how much we love ourselves.

You might say it's selfish. For someone you imagine spending the rest of your life with, you'd think: what's there to be rational about? You'd give your heart and soul, you'd give all of you.

The reason you love each other

"I love him because he loves me."

You are not loved because you love your significant other. The very reason you are together is because you are yourself. You love this specific person because you see what makes this person unique. You do not love the person because he or she is completely obsessed with you. If that's so, then I beg you to reconsider.

Always leave some love for yourself

Part of being yourself means leaving some love for yourself. Love never hinders but always uplifts, does not judge but encourages, and should never make you feel less the person you were before. When you change when in love, you change for the better. You change because you want to be the best person you can be for your significant other. There is a life outside the relationship and respect begins with you being yourself and the other being himself/herself. It's never about pushing or pulling each other, and most definitely never about sacrificing your hopes and dreams. Love is not about looking eye to eye, but looking in the same direction. You want success, you want a beautiful future? You have to start leaving some love for you.

Your heart is not made for devotion to another human being. You are what you love and what you love makes you different. Once you forget all the other parts of yourself and throw it in the back seat, you start to lose the reason you are loved.

Love is a decision

This is probably the most thought-provoking concept of love. I've learned today that love is not just a feeling but a decision. And sometimes these decisions have a lot to do with taking time off and figuring out not what's wrong or right, but what's best for each other. The cliche "I need to find myself" is over-said but misunderstood for what it really is. "I need to find myself" is about someone bravely taking a stand and admitting that they are not who they used to be. When you realize that, trust it. When you hear it, respect it.

Being in love should never mean loving your self LESS. The world is full of narcissistic individuals who will take advantage of self-depreciating romantics... you should never be on either end. Remember who you are, remember your worth and then can you decide when you should love another again.
